Our month in pictures

We have had a lot of fun so far this summer, a part of me is ready for it to end so I can meet my baby coming this fall, but another part of me never wants the warm weather and fun activities to end. Owen is at a great age where he is so interactive and excited to see new things.

Friday nights in June at Jacobson Park they have kids movies in the park. We are lucky because it is literally in our backyard so we can walk over and see what is going on and not feel like we have to stay if we don't want to.

They also have children's activities and a petting zoo, which Owen absolutely loved!

We had a cookout with neighbors and friends, it was so much fun to let the kids run around and play in the yard. Everyone had a great time.

We have been watching daddy play kickball on Thursday nights at the park. We love walking over in the wagon and cheering daddy on.

Sadly one of our neighbors moved to Louisville so we had to say goodbye to Eddie, the cat. Owen will miss this little guy!

We helped celebrate Mary and Parker's birthday this month with all of our friends at the park.

We have been hanging with cousins.

We even got to visit the Cincinnati zoo and see Owen's favorite animal.

We continue to get out on our morning walks and sometimes even fall asleep in the stroller.

This week we went to Indiana to visit my oldest friend, jenna and her new baby. We had a great day at my parents house, playing outdoors and catching up. Wish we lived closer, love you all!

How crazy is it that Owen is the only boy out of five kiddos? No one has boys yet, surely someone else will have a boy next.

20 interesting things about our 20 month old

1. Owen is going to have a baby brother! We just found out at our ultrasound that we are having another boy. Owen has a lot to learn before this baby comes, like mommy can't carry him around the house at all times, I only have two hands.

2. Owen knows some of his letters. He learned the letter B from his letter magnets and has known it for a while but he now points it out everywhere we see one. He has now picked up the letter O and tries to find it in every book we read. He also identifies "A" and "S" sometimes.

3. Speaking of books, Owen has a few new favorites...

This one is called the "oh no ball"

His "beach ball" book

And his "mama mama" book

Of course two of the three have balls in the books.

4. Owen is a big fan of the baby pool, we have been going out to Spindletop and Andover (when friends invite us) and although it took him a bit to warm up to the idea he had so much fun splashing in the water.

5. Goodbye Elmo, hello batman. Owen lives and breathes for batman. When he wakes up we can hear him over the monitor talking about batman which Owen calls "bapado". His love for batman started when Luke had a batman themed birthday party and this big balloon arrived.

6. Owen loves ducks, and loves to feed the ducks at Joseph Beth and at Jacobson park. Each time we go on a walk he asks to go see the "quack quacks".

7. Balls balls and more balls. Owen is still VERY interested in every sport that uses a ball. He is now requesting to watch baseball on tv. I think he may take after his daddy with this one.

8. Owen loves hats of any kind. He loves to pick them out and wear them as often as possible.

9. Owen says so many words now it is hard to keep track. He will pretty much repeat what you ask him to say and is beginning to say phrases. It is so exciting to see him learn new things and hillarious to hear what he will come up with. The other day while feeding the ducks he worked very hard to say "goodbye big quack quack". We were pretty impressed by this.

10. We are working on teaching him colors but he hasn't quite picked up on this yet. He is correct about 50% of the time which probably means he makes a lot of good guesses.

11. Owen loves to tickle people. He will come up to kids at play dates and start tickling them in the face, most toddlers don't really think this is cute and I can tell you that Owen wouldn't appreciate it much if someone tried to do it to him.

12. Our little buddy has become a bit of a picky eater but I have found that when he is hungry he will eat what we serve. If I give him too many filling snacks after nap and before dinner it is likely he won't eat much. This seems like common sense but there was a time when I had to feed him in order to make him happy so that I could cook dinner. This has become a little easier lately.

13. Bedtime, has become a bit of a chore and we are hoping it is just a phase. He has started to figure out how to climb out of his crib but hasn't gotten all the way out. We're playing around with some ideas to make this a smoother transition before the baby comes.

14. Nap time has always been pretty easy for him when we are at home. I think he is so tired from his screwed up bedtime that he needs a good nap. He naps for about 2-3 hours sometimes 4.

15. O still shows no interest in potty training so we aren't pushing anything.

16. Owen starts 2 year old preschool in approximately 2 1/2 months. I am looking forward to some time to run errands sans baby and for O to become a little more independent.

17. Speaking if independent, I am very proud to say that Owen is finally playing more independently these days. I always wondered if these times would ever come, but they have slowly and surely.

18. We have a bit of a cautious child on our hands. He has to warm up to new things before jumping right in but that warm up period is getting shorter and shorter.

19. Owen already loves his baby brother so much that he brings the baby toys and puts them on my belly. He kisses "mommy's baby" upon request and even thinks he has a baby in his belly.

20. We have a lot to look forward to in the next few months but we are trying to enjoy our time with Owen as an only child.

Gender reveal....

We are going to have baby boy #2! I am looking forward to many years of sports and obsessions with baseball, football, soccer and basketball (that is if this baby is anything like his brother). I'm not going to lie, I am sad I won't be able to dress this baby in pink and big hair bows, or maybe I can:). However there is much to look forward to with two little boys. Now time to think of names. I will let you know as soon as we figure that out.

Here are some pictures of our sweet baby boy...

Look at baby's leg and foot, it's so clear!

And now a 20 week bump shot.
