First Day of School 2015

Owen hasn't been in school since February so this mama was VERY excited for the first day of school, especially because both of my boys would be starting school this fall.  I have to say this moment was bittersweet.  Yes I have 4 whole hours to myself twice a week, but it means my babies are growing up and are not really babies anymore.
We talked a lot about their new school all summer and we drove by the large building several times this summer.  The boys had never been inside the school or met their teachers so I knew Owen would be nervous.  When I got him up Thursday morning the first thing he said to me was "I don't want to go to school".  I hugged him and he laid his head on my chest.  I held him like this without saying a word.  I know he was nervous but I didn't want to play into it or make him feel silly for feeling that way.  We went on with our morning, ate breakfast and as the morning went on he finally said "I'm so excited for school".  I got some really great pictures before we left the house (using M&M's to my advantage).

Owen is quite the poser these days...

Brad happened to be out of town the night before school so I was stressing about getting the boys ready for pictures, lunches packed and out the door on time.  However we did it, but daddy was sad to miss out on the big day.

 Yes that's an M&M Grayson..

This is the only solo pic of the little guy who won't stand still for a picture...
 On our way into school...
Grayson and Owen were both very proud to wear a backpack.  Grayson was a little unsteady with his on his back, he fell over several times on the walk into school.

Here is Owen with his teachers putting his lunch away....

Grayson was a little sad at drop off and he cried for me but when I walked back by his room after dropping Owen off he was happily playing in the classroom.

At pick up the boys were happy to see me but the first thing Owen said was "school is too long".  He said he met a new friend that looked like Simon from Alvin and the Chipmunks, and his new friend called him "salami" and he called his new friend "boo boo".

Summer Has Come to an End

I feel like this summer has flown by!  I can't believe we have already lived in Indiana for six months.  We have been spending a lot of time exploring our new little city of Carmel.  We have had a really great summer here, of course we are missing our favorite people in Kentucky, but we are making the most of our new situation.  Here is the shortened version of our summer so far.

We were able to see all of our Lexington family when we went to celebrate Max's first communion...

We have been able to spend a lot of time with all the grandparents...

Owen was able to experience my favorite ice cream... The Scoop...
He also learned a new trick...

The boys have gotten to spend a lot of time with their cousins this summer....

Don't worry we even had time for our annual corniest event...

We also got to see all of our old Kentucky friends...
Then Kiki came for a visit which was extra special...

We have of course been riding bikes all summer long...

And have done a lot of swimming and playing in the water...

For the fourth of July we went to the Carmel parade with some of our neighbors...
Then we took a night bike ride and rode to downtown Carmel to watch the fireworks with my friend Kristi and her little family...

We celebrated Lilly and Stella's 4th birthday as superheroes...

We went to the Carmel firetruck museum...

We celebrated daddy's 34th birthday...

Owen started soccer this summer...
Grayson wishes he could play too...
I've gotten to spend several girls nights out with my favorite friends from high school...
Of course we have gone to the children's museum this summer...

And I can't forget Owen's favorite adventure of the summer...The Morgan County Fair, yes we did get to go this year!!  While we were there Owen said "Thank you mommy for taking me to do such special things".  I guess we don't need to do Disney World if this is what excites the kids...

Owen's first ride on a ferris wheel with MeeMaw and Wyatt...

Although we didn't take a big vacation this summer we were able to see all of our loved ones and spend some good quality time as a family...

And the boys were worn out each and everyday...

Goodbye summer, you will be missed!  Until next year!!
