Grayson is 6 Months Old...

Where did the time go?  Sadly by the time this post will actually be complete, he will be almost 7 months old, whoops!

Grayson is still the sweetest, and happiest little guy, so nothing has changed there, but oh my goodness he is changing SO much in other ways since I updated you at his four month check-up.  First he rolled over both directions at about 5 months, then he started sitting up by himself right at his 6 month birthday.  He was wobbly for the first couple of weeks but now, he is a champ!

Right before I took this picture in the laundry basket Grayson pulled himself up for the first time on the side of the basket.  Seriously - I am not quite sure I'm ready for this!!

Grayson will go from sitting up to laying on his belly pretty easily and can now get up on all fours and rock back and forth.

He has also added a new move to this process, lifting his belly into the air doing a plank/down dog move.

I can't really figure out what he is trying to do, but he is on a mission of some sort.  He can roll across the floor to get what he wants and now scoots backwards on his belly around the room.  This child is going to be moving before we know it.

Now let's move on to his current stats...
Height:  28 1/4 inches - 92 percentile
Weight:  17 lbs. 9 oz.  - 45 percentile

Eat:  I still nurse Grayson about 5 times a day and I supplement a bottle of formula every couple of days so that if I need to I can leave him in the care of someone else.  I'm getting ready to leave him for a couple of days while I go on a girl's trip to Chicago with my BFF's from high school.  He is now eating solids and really feeding himself most of the time.  He eats bananas, sweet potatoes, avocados, and peas.  We have tried green beans, blueberries and black beans but he doesn't seem to like them so much.  We will try those again soon.  His most favorite thing to eat are Gerber Puffs and Mum Mums.  They are both whole grain cereal snacks.  It is a pretty great distractor when I need him to stay awake or happy while I take care of business elsewhere.

Sleep:  Grayson is just now developing a more consistent schedule.  He wakes up around 4:30 or 5:00 and nurses (I would love to cut out this feeding) then I usually put him back down while I go running or go to barre class then he wakes up for the day around 6:30 or 7:00.  He goes down for his morning nap around 9:00 and sleeps until 10:15-10:30.  Then he takes his afternoon nap around 1:00 and wakes up around 2:30-3:30 then goes back down for a quick evening nap around 5:00 and goes to sleep for the night sometime around 8:00.  We are pretty flexible with his morning nap because I don't want Owen to be stuck at the house all morning everyday while Grayson naps so he will sometimes get that sleep in while walking in the stroller or in the car but since Owen still naps most days we are always home for a good afternoon nap.

Here is the little guy taking a quick evening nap on Pop-Pop this past weekend...

Grayson always sleeps with his bunny blankie that Mimi got him.  He kicks his legs and sticks it right to his face when he sees it.

Play:  Grayson's most favorite toy is his brother Owen.  Owen provides Grayson with lots of entertainment and always makes him happy when he sees him.

I cannot even express to you how much I love to see these two smile and play with one another.  I think this is the BEST part of having two children.  These two love each other so much more than I ever thought was possible.

Allergies:  Yes, I said allergies.  I noticed Grayson's skin was breaking out very easily pretty much as soon as we brought him home from the hospital.  I was hoping it was just sensitive skin but it turns out it is eczema which is often times connected to a food allergy.  It continued to get worse and we finally got a skin test done around 5 months.  The test revealed that Grayson is allergic to milk and eggs.  I have been avoiding both of these things but not completely taking them out of my diet.  I don't eat eggs but I will eat some baked goods with eggs in them and it doesn't seem to bother Grayson when I do that.  His eczema has improved and is most of the time non-existent since taking out the eggs that I used to eat for breakfast every morning.  I LOVE eggs for breakfast so it is killing me, but I have the rest of my life to enjoy them.

Grayson's baptism

Our sweet baby boy had his baptism this month.  Grayson was baptized at St. Paul Catholic Church in downtown Lexington.  Father Chris Clay conducted the ceremony.

We chose my sister Kristin and brother-in-law Tim to be Grayson's Godparents.  Kristin and Tim are VERY special people in our lives.  Brad and I have always looked up to them as role-models in their marriage, as parents and as fellow Catholics.  They are so good to our boys and treat them like their own.  We are thankful they agreed to the task!

The ceremony was performed outside of the regular mass which was nice because it was much more intimate.

Grayson did a really great job and was a happy baby for most of the service.  He didn't even fuss when Father Chris poured water on his head or rubbed a TON of chrism oil in his hair.

I of course was a little more concerned about our toddler.  I was worried he wouldn't like not being involved in all of the action with his Mommy, Daddy and baby brother.  Meg was kind enough to help keep Owen occupied with special treats and toys.
Grayson was so relieved it was over and he could finally do what he wanted to do all along, pull on his cousins' hair....

Then it was time to attempt some family photos...

Everybody wanted to love on this sweet fellow...

Fred and Suzanne had the right idea - to wait until we were home and had food in our bellies...
Now it was time to party - Owen was looking forward to this all day.
Eating cake...
And playing soccer with the big kids...

Our sweet angel was exhausted and happy to take a nap with his Godmother...

Thanks to all who made the trip and spent your day with us.  We loved having each and every one of you there with us on this special day.

Our Month in Photos

We have been enjoying the beautiful weather and making many new memories.  I have had a hard time keeping you all up to date through the blog so I am going to overload you with some pictures of what we have been up to.

Brad and I had a date night, we went to Michael Jackson's Cirque Du Soleil.  It was a fun show and especially nice to be alone without children.

The next day was The Kentucky Derby and if you all remember last year the weather was pretty terrible.  This year, the weather was actually nice and we decided to spend the day with some of our friends at a kid-friendly Derby party.

Here is Owen with one of his sweet little friends...
During the party one of the girls brought out stick horses and decided to have the husbands participate in their own Derby race - a stick horse race.  Here we are discussing the rules of the game...

 And they are off....

 Coming down the stretch...
The kids loved watching their daddies run around the golf course and people were cheering the Daddies on from the patio at the neighborhood Country Club which is literally in our friend's backyard.  Although Brad didn't win the stick horse race, we did bid on the horse who won the real Derby race - California Chrome - and we came home with $190.  So it was a great night in my book.

We have been playing outside a lot lately, for some reason Owen believes that every time we get out the water table it is time to get completely undressed....

Claire came over for a little surprise...

Speaking of being naked, Grayson loves to be naked and splash in the tub.  As soon as he hears the water running he starts kicking his legs and squealing with delight...

After bath time it is time to snuggle in bed and read some books.  These boys love to snuggle in Owen's bed....

We went on our first wagon ride of the season and Grayson was actually able to sit up in the seat of the wagon.  It only lasted for about a block, but he liked it for a little bit...

Owen showing Grayson how to sit in the wagon...

Finally we are seeing blooms on our flowers...
We have been spending a lot of time at the park, swinging...
 And playing with our buddies...
This weekend we celebrated Grayson's baptism and Mother's Day.  Here is a sneak peak of our little family on Grayson's big day.
I will designate an entire post on the weekend once I go through all of the photos.
