So fresh and so clean

Owen just got over a cold and runny nose so I innocently decided it was time to wash his favorite animal , his giraffe. He has two of them and I successfully washed one without him noticing but this time, I wasn't so successful. I put his beloved giraffe in the washer with other clothes and I heard Owen crying, I couldn't figure out why he was so upset. He was standing outside of the washer pointing and crying and sucking his thumb (which he only does when he has his giraffe).

We sat and watched the giraffe circle around in the washer and I tried to make it sound exciting and funny, this didn't work so I tried to distract Owen with food, this didn't work he kept running back to the laundry room and banging on the door. I even went upstairs and gave him the other giraffe, somehow he knew this wasn't the right one. Finally it was clean and dry and Owen and his giraffe were reunited at last.

Toddler time

It is hard to believe that Owen is now a toddler. He is so interactive and hilarious! He is learning new things everyday. Owen now LOVES to read books. He really can't get enough of them. He plays for a little while and then we see him running over to one of us with a new book to read. We play this game of reading book after book most evenings.

He has been trying to feed himself which is a giant mess and I'm not quite sure he actually gets any food in his belly.

But he's pretty happy.
Just because he is a toddler doesn't mean that he isn't a bit whiny at times. We still have a rough time in the evenings waiting on daddy to come home from work while I am trying to get dinner ready. I sometimes have to carry him on my back to get anything done.

Since the weather is getting colder it is difficult to motivate myself to run before Brad leaves for work and it is sometimes too cold to take Owen out for a run. So I decided to get a gym membership for the winter and take Owen to the daycare at the gym while I work out. Last week was really one of the first few times leaving Owen with someone he doesn't know. He was not happy to say the least and the lady at the daycare had to come get me out of Pilates class after 30 minutes to tell me she couldn't get Owen to calm down. I could hear Owen screaming down the hallway. Look at the sad baby below, sorry Owen but we are going to try again next week.

Learning to fly

Apparently there is an Aviation Museum in Lexington. I never knew about it until the playgroup decided to meet up there yesterday. Owen loves the toy airplanes he has at home so I thought he might enjoy seeing some in person. As soon as we walked in Owen started making airplane noises and pointing at everything.

The kids were able to sit in a helicopter.

Owen enjoyed checking everything out....

But his favorite part was chasing Ryan around the museum.

Happy Halloween!

Sorry this post is a bit late, since Owen has given up his morning nap I don't have as much free time for writing. Last week Owen celebrated his second Halloween.

Here is a picture of Owen on his first Halloween. Last year we passed out candy to the few trick or treaters we got and stayed warm and cozy in our house.

This year we went to Marc and Meg's for an early dinner and to see all the kids before trick or treat began. Owen did a pretty good job of keeping his lion head on the entire night. It may have had something to do with the fact that there were plenty of funny creatures to look at to take his mind off of the itchy, hot lion head. He even got into character by growling at everyone.

We got a couple of pictures....

before locking the lion up in his car seat to head back to our neighborhood and give trick or treating a try.

Owen loved running around on the sidewalk and was not interested in the candy. One of our neighbors even tried to chase Owen down to give him a piece of candy.

He finally settled on a few bites of a rice krispy treat.

We enjoyed seeing our nieghbors and experiencing our first Halloween is in the suburbs.
