Where did the time go? Sadly by the time this post will actually be complete, he will be almost 7 months old, whoops!
Grayson is still the sweetest, and happiest little guy, so nothing has changed there, but oh my goodness he is changing SO much in other ways since I updated you at his four month check-up. First he rolled over both directions at about 5 months, then he started sitting up by himself right at his 6 month birthday. He was wobbly for the first couple of weeks but now, he is a champ!
Grayson will go from sitting up to laying on his belly pretty easily and can now get up on all fours and rock back and forth.
He has also added a new move to this process, lifting his belly into the air doing a plank/down dog move.
I can't really figure out what he is trying to do, but he is on a mission of some sort. He can roll across the floor to get what he wants and now scoots backwards on his belly around the room. This child is going to be moving before we know it.
Now let's move on to his current stats...
Height: 28 1/4 inches - 92 percentile
Weight: 17 lbs. 9 oz. - 45 percentile
Eat: I still nurse Grayson about 5 times a day and I supplement a bottle of formula every couple of days so that if I need to I can leave him in the care of someone else. I'm getting ready to leave him for a couple of days while I go on a girl's trip to Chicago with my BFF's from high school. He is now eating solids and really feeding himself most of the time. He eats bananas, sweet potatoes, avocados, and peas. We have tried green beans, blueberries and black beans but he doesn't seem to like them so much. We will try those again soon. His most favorite thing to eat are Gerber Puffs and Mum Mums. They are both whole grain cereal snacks. It is a pretty great distractor when I need him to stay awake or happy while I take care of business elsewhere.
Sleep: Grayson is just now developing a more consistent schedule. He wakes up around 4:30 or 5:00 and nurses (I would love to cut out this feeding) then I usually put him back down while I go running or go to barre class then he wakes up for the day around 6:30 or 7:00. He goes down for his morning nap around 9:00 and sleeps until 10:15-10:30. Then he takes his afternoon nap around 1:00 and wakes up around 2:30-3:30 then goes back down for a quick evening nap around 5:00 and goes to sleep for the night sometime around 8:00. We are pretty flexible with his morning nap because I don't want Owen to be stuck at the house all morning everyday while Grayson naps so he will sometimes get that sleep in while walking in the stroller or in the car but since Owen still naps most days we are always home for a good afternoon nap.
Here is the little guy taking a quick evening nap on Pop-Pop this past weekend...
Grayson always sleeps with his bunny blankie that Mimi got him. He kicks his legs and sticks it right to his face when he sees it.
Play: Grayson's most favorite toy is his brother Owen. Owen provides Grayson with lots of entertainment and always makes him happy when he sees him.
I cannot even express to you how much I love to see these two smile and play with one another. I think this is the BEST part of having two children. These two love each other so much more than I ever thought was possible.
Allergies: Yes, I said allergies. I noticed Grayson's skin was breaking out very easily pretty much as soon as we brought him home from the hospital. I was hoping it was just sensitive skin but it turns out it is eczema which is often times connected to a food allergy. It continued to get worse and we finally got a skin test done around 5 months. The test revealed that Grayson is allergic to milk and eggs. I have been avoiding both of these things but not completely taking them out of my diet. I don't eat eggs but I will eat some baked goods with eggs in them and it doesn't seem to bother Grayson when I do that. His eczema has improved and is most of the time non-existent since taking out the eggs that I used to eat for breakfast every morning. I LOVE eggs for breakfast so it is killing me, but I have the rest of my life to enjoy them.
