The Wood family just completed their yearly midwestern tour. We were lucky enough to be their first stop. They always rent a house in Lexington and usually spend a little over a week here visiting with us. It is so much fun to let all of the cousins play together. We were of course looking forward to seeing all of the Wood family, but I was especially excited for the two babies to meet for the second time.
Fiona and Grayson met last summer while they were still in our bellies....
But this summer they could actually interact...
While the Wood's were in town there was major excitement with the World Cup so the boys were either watching or playing soccer most of the time...
While soccer was a major focus on their trip we were also able to fit in some other fun activities while they were here. Like taking walks....
Playing at the park...
Feeding the ducks at Joseph Beth..
Playing in the backyard pool (naked)...
Going to the Children's Garden...
Taking cousin selfies...
Having a sister day...
And just hanging out together...
The Wood's coordinated their trip this year so that we could all be together to celebrate this guy turning 60...
Here are some pictures from our party.
Grayson napped....
Dad enjoyed all of his guests...
If you didn't know, my Uncle Rick is the Morgan County Cornhole champion, so here he is giving a few pointers...
And Max learned how to play happy birthday on his guitar...
The following day we had pictures scheduled with a local photographer as a birthday gift to my dad. The photographer cancelled last minute leaving us to scramble. Luckily I have the best friend in the world - who takes photos as a hobby and typically just of her own family, but who was kind enough to drop everything and come to our rescue.
I have known my friend Kristi for more than half my life, and she knows our family so well which made everything much more relaxing and enjoyable.
While talking about my sweet friend Kristi it made me want to look up some of old pictures of us. Here we are at my wedding...
and at hers...
Back to our family photos, Kristi took most of the photos in my dad and Karen's lush green yard and in front of this beautiful old barn across the road. Although it was extremely difficult to make eight kids happy at the same time for two hours of photos, and my toddler was probably the worst of all, Kristi made it work and did a fantastic job! Thank you Kristi, I owe you one! Here is a look at some of the pictures...
And we couldn't leave Martinsville without spending some time with GG. Owen loves to get into her toy closet and play with her old toys. GG enjoyed telling Owen all about rotary phones and pretending to call him. He loves her!
While we are sad to say goodbye to our Arizona family, we are happy to be home and back to a normal routine. We love you Wood family and look forward to seeing you next summer!!
