Baby #2 Update

I'm taking note from some of my fellow blogger friends, Monica and Laura and I'm going to post a bit about my growing baby bump today. I am almost 6 1/2 months pregnant now, this pregnancy has seemed to last FOREVER and I still have a ways to go. Here are some bump pictures...

Cravings - I really don't have any specific cravings at this point in my pregnancy. The first few months, I really wanted green vegetables and a lot of them. Now I don't have any particular cravings that come all the time, but when I do get a craving for something, I have to have it right away.

Feeling - I'm feeling really pretty good right now. I have a lot of energy and my body is not having too many aches and pains. I do notice that if I don't keep up with yoga, my body gets sore and my lower back hurts.

Weight gain - I'm not sure how much weight I've gained at this point, but when I went to the doctor at my 22 week appointment I had gained 12 lbs.

Baby size - baby boy is about the length of a scallion from head to toe. He weighs almost 2 lbs at this point.

Speaking of babies, I went to Columbus to meet some of my friends' new babies yesterday. There were six mamas who met for lunch yesterday, we all used to work together at Oakstone Academy. Pre-babies we had a standing happy hour at least once a month and would stay for hours talking and gossiping after work. It was so fun to get together with most of my old work friends, although we were still missing a few.

Out of the six mamas who lunched yesterday are pregnant, we are within 6 weeks of one another and the other three ladies each had a baby under the age of 7 weeks. It was so much fun to visit and catch up. We are all at the same point in our lives and really could have sat there into the evening hours if life and our toddlers at home didn't get in the way. Here are some pictures to recap our visit.

Rycki's baby Tanley.

Addy's baby Chandler.

Molly's baby Jacob.

On the way home I stopped by the Pottery Barn Outlet to pick up some things for Owen's new bedroom. I'm not planning to have Owen move into his big boy room for several months after baby brother is here, but we will see how things work out. Once we get things set up, I will post pictures.

Beach time

We just returned from our long awaited beach trip of the summer. Every other year we go to Rosemary Beach in Florida with my sister Kristin and her family, as well as my mom. It is a beautiful village on the gulf of Mexico with the feel of an old European city. Everything is walkable and there is so much to do in such a small place.

Here are some scenic photos of Rosemary, courtesy of google images....

It is a true picture of paradise in my opinion.

So back to our trip, Brad, Owen and I left Friday morning and decided to break our 11 1/2 hour drive into two days. We drove to Montgomery, Alabama the first day and really Owen did pretty good in the car. He was so excited to watch his DVD's that he really didn't make much of a fuss the whole way down. His favorite shows to watch in the car are Little Einsteins, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Curious George of course. He even took a great nap.

Owen was happy when we finally made it to the hotel and we all had a good night's sleep. The next morning we woke up, ate a great breakfast before getting on the road again. Owen's newest obsession is cookies, which I think he groups all sweets under the cookie category because when our waiter came over during breakfast and asked if she could get us anything else, Owen said "um yes, cookies". The waiter was tempted to go find Owen a cookie just because she thought he was pretty cute, but sorry Owen, no cookies before noon at least.

We finally arrived and got in the pool right away.

The next morning we tried the beach, even though we read about the beach and talked about it for many weeks, Owen screamed the entire time we were there. He refused to let his feet touch the sand and cried while pointing and yelling for home.

Outside of the beach, Owen enjoyed himself. He played with his cousins all week, which was probably his highlight of the trip.

Owen enjoyed plenty of sweet treats.
Mommy's favorite treat to share, a fresh juice or smoothie from Raw and Juicy.

We went to the kids fair at the beach one night.

We found a playground and Owen was definitely in his element.

Nope, still not a fan of the beach.

That's okay, we still have the pool.
We enjoyed a nice lunch out with the ladies, since we are being overrun by boys in the family, it is nice to have some girl time.

We enjoyed some serious quality time on our last trip as a family of three.

We had a really great trip but are happy to be home and get back to our normal routine. Next trip we hope to have baby boy #2 with us.

4th of July fun!

We had some special visitors in town for the 4th this year, Brad's best friend from high school, Tony, his wife Allison and their baby Anthony. Anthony is 14 months old and we hadn't gotten to see him since last summer. We had a great time visiting and Owen enjoyed playing with Anthony, whom he calls "Annie".

The boys share one common interest, sports, which their daddies have always bonded over. Owen and Anthony had a great time fighting over the baseball bat, ball and tee.

After dinner we met up with some of the neighbors and walked to the golf course to watch the fireworks. We brought special treats, bubbles, and balls for the kids to play with while we waited for the fireworks to begin.

The kids had more fun jumping off this rock than anything else.

Here's Owen and his buddy Anthony.

And Owen and his little neighbor friend Mary.

And of course our little Cookie Monster.

Oh and we can't forget Oliver and his most prized possession, the 50 cent flag from Walgreens. He made me feel like the best auntie in the world for allowing him to keep this flag forever and ever. We love our Ollie!

We stayed as long as the kids were happy and decided to head home around 9:45. As we were walking in the door the fireworks began. Sadly we didn't get to experience them, maybe next year.
