Cornfest 2014

We were back at it this year, freezing 13 dozen ears of corn - Max calculated that it was around 22,000 kernels of corn.
This year was a little busier than usual for me because I had this little friend to join in the fun...

Luckily his big cousins entertained him for a bit...

Owen had fun playing with his cousins too....

Yes that's Max being dragged by the power wheels truck...

First we shucked all of the corn....

Grayson enjoyed watching all the action...

Then we boiled water and poured it in a cooler with the corn - to cook it for about 10 minutes.  This was different than our normal routine.  People call this cooler corn.  It cut out one of the steps to our process and cooked a lot more corn at one time.  After that we put ice in the cooler to cool, then it was time to cut all the kernels off the cobs...

After the kernels - we put the corn in small bags to freeze for the winter.  We were so efficient this year, we even had time for a brother/sister race....

I didn't take many pictures this year, so I figured I would add some from cornfests past...
