It was a perfect night and we are grateful that my stepdad gets such great tickets to the clubhouse where we can eat and drink for free.
Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband who takes such great care of our family! I couldn't be more grateful for the love you show to me and the boys each and every day. We are one lucky family!!
As for the real Father's Day - Brad spent the weekend with his dad and brother working on our Columbus house and prepping the yard for the new tenants to move in. Although we were really missing daddy that weekend, we know that it was necessary he completed those projects. While he was in Columbus the boys and I spent the weekend at home, playing together in the yard, snuggling in bed and spending some time at the pool.
Now on to our anniversary. We were really looking forward to a weekend at home with our little family because we had been away from one another for the past two weekends. We planned to go to breakfast and the farmer's market on Saturday then we and a babysitter reserved for Saturday night to go to a friend's party that evening.
We started off the weekend by going to Windy Corner - one of our favorite restaurants in the country just outside of Lexington.
We ate dinner and the boys actually cooperated...
Grayson ate his first french fry - and boy did he LOVE it!!
This poor little guy didn't get to try ice cream - we will have to take him someplace that has sorbet...
We had a pretty great evening until about midnight Brad wakes up and starts getting sick. The vomitting didn't stop until around 6:00 pm the next evening. This is how Brad spent the entire anniversary day....
We think Brad may have had food poisoning from something he ate at Windy Corner. But we still tried to stay far away from him in case it was a stomach bug...
Although we had to cancel our plans on Saturday and it didn't exactly turn out as planned. I still decided to go through our old wedding photos and reminisce even if it was by myself about our special day 6 years ago...
Here is Brad waiting to see me for the first time before the wedding...
We had our ceremony at St. Peter Church in downtown Lexington...
Then we had our reception at Spindletop - a beautiful old mansion in the heart of horse country...
Here is my dad giving the father of the bride speech. He had the hardest time, crying happy tears throughout the entire thing...
What a special day! Even though Brad was sick on our sixth wedding anniversary it doesn't take away all of the great memories we share from each day spent together since our wedding day of June 21, 2008. I look forward to a healthy anniversary next year - at least one can hope.
