Our Baby is Two

Since the boys had a combined birthday present (Disney World) we celebrated Grayson's birthday a little early this year.  It is so hard to believe that my baby boy is two years old.  The day of Grayson's birth was so special and very relaxed - just like his sweet little personality.  Here is a quick look down memory lane....

A picture of Grayson still in my belly - I was huge!

And one of my very favorite photos of my unreal belly...

 Meeting our newest baby boy...

 Coming home...
And our sweet baby one year ago...

Look at our big toddler boy now...
Grayson has changed so much in the past few weeks.  Here are 24 things about our now two year old boy.

1.  He is my snuggle bug.  Since he was a baby I have always either nursed him to sleep or rocked him to sleep and now he continues to love being rocked to sleep.  Most days at nap time I will still rock him to sleep, if he doesn't fall asleep after a few minutes I put him in his crib and he falls asleep.  There are some days I rock him extra long just to get some of his sweet snuggles.

2.  Speaking of rocking Grayson, he loves for me to sing "wagon wheel".  His favorite verse is "rock me mama like a wagon wheel" - he requests that I change the verse each time to say a different person's name such as Owen, daddy, Max, Luke, etc.

3.  He loves people - Grayson would much rather play with people than toys or watch television.  It has always been calming to him to talk about his day and all of the people in his life.  When we leave the house he wants all of his family with him - he continues to role call each morning when he wakes up to see who is home and when we leave the house to make sure we are all leaving with him.  When I tell him daddy is at work he gets a very sad face and says "no daddy work".

4.  Grayson continues to call Owen "wee owee".  I am not sure where this came from I guess he is trying to say Owie.  And Owen calls Grayson "Gray Gray".

5.  Grayson is a great sleeper and a great napper.  He will nap for about 2 - 3 1/2 hours each afternoon.  He sleeps for 11 hours each night.  He has started to throw a little bit of a fit at night unless mommy is putting him to bed.

6.  Grayson loves to be outdoors - his favorite thing to do in our yard is dig in the dirt or mulch.  If Grayson runs off while we are outside we always know where to find him - in the front of the house digging in the mulch.

7.  Grayson is obsessed with dogs - he calls them "puppies" or "ooof".  He is very gentle with dogs but will not get out of their faces when he sees them.  It is always big drama when it is time to say goodbye to his favorite animals.

8.  Grayson sleeps with his pacifier and two bunny blankies - he calls them his hushy and babies.

9.  Grayson does not really have a great interest in television - he will request to watch Bubble Guppies or Elmo but will really only watch for 5 or 10 minutes.  I have to say I do wish a television show would keep his interest for a bit longer.

10.  Grayson loves to play with balls - at Owen's soccer practice Grayson gets very excited and says "me ball" when I tell him where we are going.  He will dribble the ball (very well I might add) all around the soccer field and into the goals, but only with his left foot.

11.  He does everything else with his right hand.  - I am not exactly sure what this means I guess he is right handed.  He eats and colors with his right hand but when swinging a baseball bat he can hit on either side.  And he only kicks with his left foot.

12.  Out little guy is very tough - when he falls he gets right back up and starts running again.  If Grayson cries we know that he is actually hurt.

13.  Grayson is really trying to be more independent - he wants to pick out his own cups and fill it with water and ice and put the lids on every time.  This often causes tantrums - who knew getting a cup of water could be such a hassle.

14.  Grayson is a good eater and is always ready for meals - by saying "nummy".  He has a very difficult time waiting for dinner to be done so that he can eat.  He often follows me around the kitchen while I cook yelling "nummy, me nummy".

15.  Grayson's favorite vegetable is broccoli, favorite drink is water, favorite fruit is a banana, and he of course loves to eat anything sweet.

16.  The little man is a good helper and loves to help set the table before dinner every night.

17.  We are no where near potty training but he is very interested.  He tells me after he poops in his diaper and wants to be changed right away (this is a very good sign).  Grayson has peed on the potty but I think it just happened to be good timing.  After I change his diaper he will often go and sit on his little potty and say "no pee pee" or "no poo poo".  I think it helps to have a big brother.

18.  Grayson is trying to count - he points his finger and says "five five five five five".  When you ask him how old he is he says "five" - thank Owen for teaching him this.

19.  Grayson's favorite color is yellow and he says that everything is yellow.  He and Owen fight over whether something is actually yellow or not.

20.  Grayson has become obsessed with Santa ("hoho").  He wants to read about Santa and sing about Santa and when we see someone in public with a white beard he points to them and says "hoho".

21.  Grayson has become a bit more attached to me lately.  Especially when it comes to bedtime or nap time.  He only wants me to put him to bed and will often cry and throw such a fit when Brad does it that Brad can't get him to calm down to listen to a book.  Since Owen and Grayson both fight over me we have to take turns and trade each night so each of the boys gets to have each one of us put them to bed every other night.

22.  Grayson is talking so much more in the past few weeks.  He is still not saying full sentences but is beginning to put three words together.  I love listening to him talk and love hearing him say new things each and ever day.  It is such a fun process!

23.  Grayson has a few favorite books:
"mama mama book"
 "moon book"
"GG book"  This book my Grandma recorded herself reading it before we ever had children but at the beginning she dedicates the book to the Drapp family. Grayson loves this book and wants to read the "GG book" ALL THE TIME.

24.  Grayson is just a little bigger than his brother Owen was at the age of two.  He is 3/4 of a pound heavier and 3/4 of an inch taller than Owen at this age.

The boys went to the doctor together this year for their yearly checkup.  It was nice to get it all done at one time, however we were there for 2 hours.  Part of that is our new pediatrician in a family friend and I think she took a lot of time with us.  The boys did great for the two hours we were in the office. Occasionally Grayson would grab his things, head for the door and say "me bye bye" and "up up mommy bye bye".

Grayson's 2 year old stats are:
Weight:  27.3 lbs.  (42nd Percentile)
Height:  22.75 inches  (35th Percentile)

Owen's four year old stats are:
Weight:  33.3 lbs. (25th Percentile)
Height:  39.5 inches (30th Percentile)

Fun Fall Festivities

We have had the most beautiful fall weather.  I swear the sun has been shining for two straight weeks.  It has been just a little chilly but not too cold to be outside.  We have really taken advantage of this amazing weather and have had more fun exploring our new city.

To set off the beginning of fall we took a trip to Douglas Lake, TN with our good friends from college.  It is always such a great time and a fun way to catch up with everyone who lives near and far...

After we arrived home we could officially begin the fall festivities.  What a better way to enjoy the beginning of crisp weather than a high school football game?  We rode our bikes to downtown Carmel one night for dinner and decided to head over to Carmel high school for the football game afterwards.  The high school is located downtown just a block from the arts and design district so it was an easy walk after eating at Greek's Pizzeria.
Although Owen doesn't look very happy in this picture he had so much fun and still talks about the Carmel Greyhounds to this day.

We ventured down to Porchfest right off the Monon Trail one afternoon....
During Porchfest the city of Carmel shuts the streets down and several homes hire local bands to play music on their front porch while people roam the streets or set up chairs/blankets to come and listen.
We went apple picking at the apple orchard I used to go to as a child, Anderson Orchard.  We ran into some people I knew from high school and got to spend some time with Pop Pop and MeeMaw...

In the afternoons we have been walking over to feed Smoky the horse.  There is an old barn and a horse stable right on 146th street - you can tell that this area used to be farmland back in the 60's before it was taken over to build houses.  There are a few barns left standing in the middle of some neighborhoods, which is actually very beautiful. The owners of the horses told my neighbor that we could come and feed them carrots anytime we would like.  It's like having our very own petting zoo.

Owen and Grayson had their first field trip - to the pumpkin patch.  The school actually brought the pumpkin patch to them.  We took a hayride down the hill to the "pumpkin patch" and the kiddos got to pick out pumpkins and take them home...

We went to the Children's Museum to see the Ninja Turtle exhibit before it ends - I love that place!!

Owen has really been working on his spooky faces...

We had a little bit of a pumpkin fail this year - so no jack o' lanterns will be displayed on our porch - sorry to disappoint.

We took our yearly age/leaf photos this year....

Owen learned to ride a two wheeler.  This past weekend he got on it and just started riding, with a little bribing of course...

Now he can join in with his neighborhood buddies...
Owen and Grayson also got a new hand-me-down ride this weekend...
We got to spend some time with my high school friends and their little ones last week...
The kids had so much fun hiking in the woods and exploring nature...

Then we went to Holliday Park to do some more hiking as a family...

I love this weather and don't want it to end!
