Our 22 month old

I'm not going to post 22 things about my boy today, it is just too long and boring to most. I will however post what Owen is up to these days.

- Owen has really started getting interested in trucks, cars, airplanes and trains. He has always liked them, but he LOVES to play with them much more now, maybe even more than balls. Here he is at breakfast downtown taking about all the trucks we see driving by.

- Owen talks all the time, he tries to tell us stories now about past events, which is my favorite thing. I love to ask him about places we have gone or things we have seen.

- Owen recently had his first major accident. Luke was riding his bike and Owen was running the opposite direction and they had a bit of a collision. It was a little heart wrenching for mommy, but as soon as we knew both boys were okay, I was okay as well. Owen loves to tell the story about his boo boo on his nose. He says "do bike nose ouch".

Take a look at that big ouch....

- Owen loves to watch sports with daddy, the Browns recently had their first preseason game so Owen and brad snuggled up to watch. When Owen sees football, he barks like a dog (as in the Cleveland dawg pound, thanks brad). He calls football "ooh hoo ball". This child loves sports of all kinds.

- Owen went to his first baseball game this weekend. For a child that loves sports I feel a bit guilty for just now taking him to his first game. A friend of ours won a suite at a Legends game from a silent auction so we decided even though it was a bit past bedtime we were going to try it out. The entire drive there Owen was talking about the baseball bats that he was going to see. He had a great time and even gave the mascot a high five, which he is still talking about.

- Owen now knows his colors. He describes everything he plays with or sees by stating the color of the item first.

- Owen is also very into letters, he loves to sing his ABC's which really sound more like "BTUCW". He jumbles the letters around when singing, but its a start.

- We are working on getting Owen ready for baby. We talk a lot about baby and when baby is moving Owen will sometimes come over and lay his head down on my belly to see if he feels something. I'm not really sure if anything will prepare him for the big change, but we are trying to talk about it with him anyways. Baby should be here sometime on the next 11 weeks, yay!

- This week I made a key lime cake to celebrate Brad's 32nd birthday. Brad worked late on his big day so Owen was pretty excited to stay up past bedtime and eat cake.

Baby #2 Update

I'm taking note from some of my fellow blogger friends, Monica and Laura and I'm going to post a bit about my growing baby bump today. I am almost 6 1/2 months pregnant now, this pregnancy has seemed to last FOREVER and I still have a ways to go. Here are some bump pictures...

Cravings - I really don't have any specific cravings at this point in my pregnancy. The first few months, I really wanted green vegetables and a lot of them. Now I don't have any particular cravings that come all the time, but when I do get a craving for something, I have to have it right away.

Feeling - I'm feeling really pretty good right now. I have a lot of energy and my body is not having too many aches and pains. I do notice that if I don't keep up with yoga, my body gets sore and my lower back hurts.

Weight gain - I'm not sure how much weight I've gained at this point, but when I went to the doctor at my 22 week appointment I had gained 12 lbs.

Baby size - baby boy is about the length of a scallion from head to toe. He weighs almost 2 lbs at this point.

Speaking of babies, I went to Columbus to meet some of my friends' new babies yesterday. There were six mamas who met for lunch yesterday, we all used to work together at Oakstone Academy. Pre-babies we had a standing happy hour at least once a month and would stay for hours talking and gossiping after work. It was so fun to get together with most of my old work friends, although we were still missing a few.

Out of the six mamas who lunched yesterday are pregnant, we are within 6 weeks of one another and the other three ladies each had a baby under the age of 7 weeks. It was so much fun to visit and catch up. We are all at the same point in our lives and really could have sat there into the evening hours if life and our toddlers at home didn't get in the way. Here are some pictures to recap our visit.

Rycki's baby Tanley.

Addy's baby Chandler.

Molly's baby Jacob.

On the way home I stopped by the Pottery Barn Outlet to pick up some things for Owen's new bedroom. I'm not planning to have Owen move into his big boy room for several months after baby brother is here, but we will see how things work out. Once we get things set up, I will post pictures.

Beach time

We just returned from our long awaited beach trip of the summer. Every other year we go to Rosemary Beach in Florida with my sister Kristin and her family, as well as my mom. It is a beautiful village on the gulf of Mexico with the feel of an old European city. Everything is walkable and there is so much to do in such a small place.

Here are some scenic photos of Rosemary, courtesy of google images....

It is a true picture of paradise in my opinion.

So back to our trip, Brad, Owen and I left Friday morning and decided to break our 11 1/2 hour drive into two days. We drove to Montgomery, Alabama the first day and really Owen did pretty good in the car. He was so excited to watch his DVD's that he really didn't make much of a fuss the whole way down. His favorite shows to watch in the car are Little Einsteins, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Curious George of course. He even took a great nap.

Owen was happy when we finally made it to the hotel and we all had a good night's sleep. The next morning we woke up, ate a great breakfast before getting on the road again. Owen's newest obsession is cookies, which I think he groups all sweets under the cookie category because when our waiter came over during breakfast and asked if she could get us anything else, Owen said "um yes, cookies". The waiter was tempted to go find Owen a cookie just because she thought he was pretty cute, but sorry Owen, no cookies before noon at least.

We finally arrived and got in the pool right away.

The next morning we tried the beach, even though we read about the beach and talked about it for many weeks, Owen screamed the entire time we were there. He refused to let his feet touch the sand and cried while pointing and yelling for home.

Outside of the beach, Owen enjoyed himself. He played with his cousins all week, which was probably his highlight of the trip.

Owen enjoyed plenty of sweet treats.
Mommy's favorite treat to share, a fresh juice or smoothie from Raw and Juicy.

We went to the kids fair at the beach one night.

We found a playground and Owen was definitely in his element.

Nope, still not a fan of the beach.

That's okay, we still have the pool.
We enjoyed a nice lunch out with the ladies, since we are being overrun by boys in the family, it is nice to have some girl time.

We enjoyed some serious quality time on our last trip as a family of three.

We had a really great trip but are happy to be home and get back to our normal routine. Next trip we hope to have baby boy #2 with us.
